Johnny

Johnnie

Career Specialist Shaun Drue reports on her customer. “When I first met with Johnnie in January 2021, he had been “laid off” from M-Class Mining, LLC, for more than a year. Johnnie had been working on a plan to support himself and his daughter, but was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, which slowed his progress. He came to Man-Tra-Con seeking truck driver training assistance, with a goal to eventually work for Coca Cola Bottling Company,” Shaun explains.

“As a dislocated worker, Johnnie was eligible for WIOA funded training and job search assistance. He jumped right in and successfully completed the Illinois workNet Work Readiness Assessments, receiving his Certificate of Completion in February 2021,” Shaun adds.

“Johnnie immediately enrolled in the Truck Driver Training Program at Rend Lake College. WIOA funding covered the cost of Johnnie’s training and reimbursed him for mileage, easing the financial burden of returning to school. Johnnie completed the Truck Driver Training Program and received his CDL license in March 2021,” Shaun reports.

“Johnnie also received job search assistance, which included help with creating a resume and preparing for the interview process. Less than one month after receiving his CDL license and beginning his job search, Johnnie reported that he had been hired by Coca Cola Bottling Company as a Truck Driver. He began employment at Coca Cola on April 27, 2021, and is currently working 40 hours per week at a wage of $20.00 per hour,” Shaun adds.

“Johnnie is thankful for the assistance he received from Man-Tra-Con. He loves his job, and especially enjoys driving to different locations and meeting new people on his delivery route,” Shaun says.
