Career Specialist Michelle Sanchez reports on her customer. “Melissa, a single parent of a 3-year-old child, had been unemployed for 4 months when she visited Man-Tra-Con seeking assistance in December 2016. She had previously worked in a production position and needed additional training to find a good paying job that would help her support her family. Melissa decided to enroll in the Associate Degree Nursing program at Rend Lake College (RLC) in Ina, Illinois. She was eligible for WIOA Training Assistance which helped pay for her tuition/fees, books, supplies, and other supportive costs while she attended college,” Michelle explains.
“In May 2018, Melissa successfully completed her program at RLC and attained her Registered Nurse license. She began working full-time as a registered nurse for SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in August 2018, where she currently earns $22.23 per hour,” Michelle reports.
