Kelsey wanted to pursue a new career path when she visited Man-Tra-Con for assistance in July 2015. She had been employed in hospitality and food service positions, but needed a better paying job. Career Specialist Michelle Sanchez helped her find a career path that was more in line with her interests.

“Kelsey was working as a server at a restaurant, not earning self-sufficient wages. She also did not have the education or work experience to obtain another job earning higher wages, so she decided to enroll in the Associate Degree Nursing program at Rend Lake College. However, she needed assistance in order to complete the program. Through a WIOA training scholarship, Kelsey was eligible to receive assistance for tuition, school fees, books, supplies, mileage reimbursement, and testing fees,” Michelle explains.

“Kelsey began her program in August 2015, worked hard, and graduated in May 2017. SIH Memorial Hospital quickly hired her for a Registered Nurse position in July 2017. Kelsey loves her job and helping patients. She is now earning $21.25 per hour,” Michelle adds.

Kelsey appreciates the assistance she received through Man-Tra-Con, “I wouldn’t have gone back to school without your financial help,” she says.
