Career Specialist Michelle Sanchez reports on her customer. “Julie was a low-income, single mother of two, working part-time as a seasonal employee for a retail store. She did not have the education or work history to obtain full-time, self-sufficient employment. She was, however, enrolled at Rend Lake College’s Certified Medical Assistant AAS Degree when she sought assistance through Man-Tra-Con in October 2016. Julie was eligible for WIOA training assistance and received help with school tuition, fees, supplies, books, and mileage reimbursement.” Michelle explains.

“While enrolled, she was able to complete 36.5 credits and was on the President’s List and the Vice President’s List for her high GPA. Before she could graduate with her associate’s degree, Julie accepted a full-time position as a CMA with Hamilton Memorial Hospital District, earning $13.00 per hour,” Michelle adds.

“Julie enjoys hands-on tasks, and working with others. With the education and clinical experience obtained through her program, she now works closely with other hospital staff to help patients,” Michelle reports.

Julie shares, “Man-Tra-Con made it possible to go to school because I wouldn’t have been able to afford it otherwise!”
