Career Specialist Michelle Sanchez reports on her customer. “As a dislocated worker, Aaron was eligible for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) services when he came to Man-Tra-Con for assistance in October 2017. After experiencing a layoff from the coal industry, Aaron had found a job working in fast food but needed help finding full-time, permanent, self-sufficient employment. He had conducted his own research on trucking companies and decided he wanted to pursue his CDL credential. As a truck driver, he would earn self-sufficient wages right away and he would never be “laid off” again since the truck driving industry is a field that continues to grow,” Michelle explains.

“In January 2018, Aaron attended classroom training at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois, and successfully completed the program in February 2018. After attaining his CDL license, Aaron found a job within a few weeks. Hogan Transportation of St. Louis, Missouri hired Aaron for a Truck Driver position in March 2018. He is now earning $500 per week and has been very happy with his job and his new income,” Michelle adds.
